Meaning

Expenses are the costs incurred by a business to earn revenue during an accounting period. Expenses reduce profit and are recorded on the debit side of the account.

Example

For example, Anggerik Boutique pays rent of RM1,500 a month, staff salaries of RM3,000 and an electricity bill of RM400. All of these are expenses deducted from revenue in the Income Statement.
