Meaning

Financial statements are formal reports that show a business's performance for a period and its financial position at the end of that period. They consist of the Income Statement (profit or loss) and the Statement of Financial Position (balance sheet). These statements help owners, creditors and other parties make decisions.

Example

On 31 December, Maju Jaya Enterprise prepares an Income Statement showing a net profit of RM8,000 and a Statement of Financial Position showing total assets of RM50,000.
