Meaning
The Purchases Returns Journal is a special journal that records goods returned to suppliers because they are damaged, wrongly delivered or not as ordered. It is prepared from the credit notes received from suppliers. It is also known as the Returns Outwards Journal.
Example
Indah Trading returns damaged goods worth RM100 to Cerah Supplier and receives a credit note. It is recorded in the Purchases Returns Journal: Cerah Supplier's account is debited RM100; the monthly total is posted to the credit of the Purchases Returns account.
