Meaning
A Statement of Affairs is a list of assets and liabilities at a given date used to find capital. Capital = Total assets - Total liabilities. It is prepared at the start and end of a period to obtain opening and closing capital for the comparison method.
Example
On 31 December, Mesra Shop has assets of RM35,000 and liabilities of RM9,000. The Statement of Affairs shows closing capital = 35,000 - 9,000 = RM26,000.
