Meaning
A nominal account is an account that records the revenue, expenses and gains or losses of a business. Examples include the sales account, rent account, salaries account and rates account. Their balances are transferred to the trading or profit and loss account at the end of the period and are not carried into the following year.
Example
Example: The Salaries Account of Ceria Enterprise has a balance of RM18,000. At year end this amount is transferred to the profit and loss account as an expense.
